They’ve collected numerous accolades over the years, and with good reason. While their firewall isn’t the strongest, Panda’s antivirus packages come with enough extra features to make it a worthwhile choice.

Things We Like

The interface is fully customizable, so you can match it to your needs.

Ransomware protection sets it apart from much of the competition.

Application Control features ensure that you’ll never be caught out by a dodgy program or download, while the parental control options are also useful to moderate content.

Their wide customer base ensures that the latest viruses and malware are identified quickly, with signatures updated frequently.

The virtual keyboard feature will block keylogging malware.

Things We Didn't Like

Malware detection may have an impact on system performance depending on your machine.

It’s set to automatically renew your subscription when it expires, so you’ll have to change it manually.

Setup and User Interface

The setup process is simple, but Panda will change your default search engine to Yahoo if you’re not careful. After registration it’ll take roughly 10-15 minutes to update and install the software.

With a crisp, unique UI and tons of customization options, it’s easy to get to grips with. You can scan your system with a couple of clicks, and it can be set to do so automatically with different configuration settings. Panda offers full support for PC and Mac, as well as mobile support for Android. You’ll be able to wipe your device remotely on iOS, but that’s about it for the iPhone version.

Detection and Removal Tools

Panda’s Application Control feature references programs against a wide database of known threats, blocking anything suspicious before there’s a chance for infection. Their virus and malware protection works in the same way, and it gave fewer false positives than the average antivirus during testing. Continuous monitoring is provided by adaptive software that is constantly on the lookout for any threats, and it’s great at getting rid of any undesirable files painlessly.

Additional Protection

Panda has dedicated firewall protection with a range of different filters to best suit your needs. Static and dynamic filtering provide the first line of defense for your machine, and websites are filtered quickly and efficiently.

You’ll be notified if your Wi-Fi connection isn’t safe via a handy popup, and it blocks anyone from connecting to your computer without your consent. Lastly, they offer protection against key-loggers with a Virtual Keyboard.

Above all, you’ll be safe if you stick with Panda to protect your device. It earns high marks for a decent firewall (although it isn’t the best) along with a couple of useful additional features.

Customer Support

Customer support options are reasonably comprehensive. You can contact them over the phone between the hours of 8am-5pm local time, while Premium account holders can access 24/7 live chat support. FAQ’s are also available for common issues, but it’s not the best selection if it’s anything other than a generic problem. Ideally they’d offer 24/7 phone support to resolve any issues you might face out of hours, but it’s not a deal breaker as long as you’re able to access the live chat features.

Pricing is in line with competitors, and you can cancel any contract within the first 30 days.

The Basic version costs $19.99 per year but it’s only available on Windows devices. Mac and Android are covered by the Advanced package, ($37.49) while the Complete version comes in at $52.49 per year. Basic coverage is all well and good, but the protection and features bundled by the Complete version make it an attractive prospect. (Just make sure to disable auto-renewal in the settings.)

While it’s not insanely cheap, it’s a decent price for a great package.

Bottom Line

Overall, Panda has capable antivirus software that we’d highly recommend for a range of uses. If you’re looking for a trustworthy antivirus that comes with extra features, it’s worth it for the parental controls and the additional Wi-Fi protection, as well as the various customization options on offer.

While their firewall isn’t the greatest at detecting threats, it’s constantly working to keep you safe, and the overall package is great value for money. Best of all, you can take a hands-off approach by letting the Application Control do the heavy lifting.
